Robin J. Kohn, AIA, NCARB – President
Following his achievement as Director of Regional Engineering at Henkels & McCoy, Inc., Robin started Betzwood Associates in 1992 out of a desire to generate a workforce to address the growing need for design in the wireless communication arena.  Over the years, Robin has grown the company to expand into the fields of traditional architecture, electrical engineering and structural engineering.

Robin has worked on a variety of projects in his career.  While with Henkels & McCoy, Robin designed and oversaw the installation of a utility bridge across the St. John River in New Brunswick, Canada.  Robin also designed and oversaw major renovations for several manufacturing plants in the area, including Certainteed/St. Gobain, Atofina, N.A., and Owens Corning.  Robin performed design and oversaw the installation of fiberoptic communications systems for MCI and AT&T.  The design of voice communication and data systems for Merrill Lynch in buildings C & D of the World Financial Center in Manhattan was also Robin’s responsibility.

Robin took the experience he gained with Henkels & McCoy and used it to develop new clients for Betzwood Associates requiring design services for datacenters, wireless communications systems and pharmaceutical research.   Eventually, this developed into manufacturing, commercial buildings, single and multi-family residences, and a wide array of others. Robin has recently been retained as an expert by counsel for several residential contractors in the Delaware Valley.

Robin has a Bachelor of Science from Temple University in Architectural Engineering Technology. A Masters of Science from Pennsylvania State University in Regional Planning, Post-Graduate Studies from Pennsylvania State University in Alternative Energy Sources and Post Graduate Studies from Temple University in Project Management and is a licensed Architect in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, Ohio, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arizona and California.

Regis W. Kubit, P.E. – Vice President
Regis has been in overall charge of numerous multi-million dollar communication construction projects including the installation of the National Telephone System in the Country of Iran. He was the engineer of record for the design and construction of the Communications System for the Lagos airport in the country of Nigeria, East Africa. Regis was the principal in charge for the design and installation of the first cellular communications system for Ericsson in Detroit, MI. He has over 40 years experience working in the telecommunications industry and in the wireless industry since 1982.

In addition to his communications experience, Regis has had extensive experience in electrical design for various heavy industries such as refineries, steel mills, printing plants, government facilities and electric utility company facilities as well as high technology applications such as computer data facilities and telephone switching buildings. Regis is also a nationally recognized as an expert in the field of Cathodic Protection, Corrosion Control and Grounding.

Regis has a Bachelor of Science from Drexel University in Electrical Engineering, Post-Graduate Studies from Pennsylvania University in English and Technical Writing, Post-Graduate Studies from Penn State University in Business and Real Estate Law and is a licensed Electrical Engineer in Pennsylvania.

Jeffrey M. Thoms, P.E. – Structural Engineer
Jeff has 14 years of experience as a structural engineer working in both the public and private arenas. A graduate of the Penn State Architectural Engineering program, Jeff made his roots in the Lehigh Valley working on various engineering projects.

Some of Jeff’s early achievements include work on one of the mill buildings at the Bethlehem Steel Plant and two additions for what was then known as Lucent Technologies.  Jeff’s primary area of experience during this time was the structural design for several elementary and middle schools.  Jeff was also part of the structural design team for new dormitories and a parking garage for Lehigh University.  Jeff also developed a strong basis in designing prestressed concrete municipal storage structures.  He developed a design spreadsheet for circular prestressed-concrete water storage tanks. Most recently, Jeff has become involved in several projects for the federal government including an addition to the William J. Hughes testing facility in Atlantic City, New Jersey and a structural analysis of the existing concrete roof of the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park, New York. Jeff also performed the structural design for the new handrails and glass guards for the reopening of the Statue of Liberty on July 4, 2009.

Jeff has a Bachelor of  Architectural Engineering from Penn State University and is licensed Structural Engineer in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Edward M. (Kipp) Happ – Director
Kipp has over 18 years of experience as a designer working in both residential and commercial realm. A proud graduate of Spring Garden College Architectural program, Kipp started his career in the development of residential and retirement communities throughout the United States. Kipp has also worked in the residential/commercial construction field and has gained immense experience and knowledge from a builders perspective. This knowledge and experience has also given Kipp a better understanding of the construction mechanics and coordination of resources required to implement and achieve the desired results.

Kipp has extensive experience in the design arenas, Kipp has worked on a variety of projects in his career, including retirement communities, datacenters, pharmaceutical research and manufacturing, semi-conductor manufacturing, commercial buildings single and multi-family residences, and a wide variety of others. Kipp has recently been involved in the development of a local theatrical production company’s new 400 seat theater and teaching center.

Kipp has a Bachelor of Science from Spring Garden College in Architecture and is currently sitting for his architectural registration exam.
